Mr. Myron Frederick Robinson

Myron Frederick Robinson, 79, of Sarasota FL beautifully transitioned May 18, 2023. He was a devoted father, husband, grandparent, and servant of his community. He was the second child of Romeo James and Virginia Robinson of Youngstown, Ohio. Myron Robinson received his BS degree in Sociology in 1967 from Youngstown State University and had a successful career that transformed many lives upon his early career launch from the Executive Development Program for National Urban League leaders, at Harvard University. This program prepared him to become the youngest Urban League president in the country, in 1972, taking the helm as CEO in Madison WI.

Myron lived a dedicated life of service for more than 37 years as CEO for various Urban League affiliates, around the country including New Haven CT, Greenville SC, and Cleveland, OH. He eventually, served a dual role as President of the Ohio Council of Urban League Executives. He served on various corporate boards including Key Bank and Carolina First, and nonprofit boards including John Carroll University, University Hospital of Cleveland, Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, Manatee County Library Foundation, the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, Plymouth Harbor of Sarasota, and the State Chamber of Commerce of South Carolina to name a few. Upon retirement, Myron continued to serve his community in Sarasota, FL as the Moderator of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and on the Board of Doctor’s Hospital and Manatee Library in Sarasota. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Prince Hall Mason, and a member emeritus of Gamma Xi Boule. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Brenda King, two adult children Myron Rodney (Maia and Brennan) and Myra Michele (Joshua and Jordan), daughter-in-love Diedre and son-in-love Ronald, his sister Anita Carroll (Changa) and brother-in-love Joseph, a host of relatives, friends, and family around the world.

A Celebration of Life & Legacy to honor Myron’s life will be held at The First Congregational Church 1031 S Euclid Ave, Sarasota, FL 34237 on October 14th, 2023 at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Dr. Wesley Bixby will officiate. The committal service will occur after the ceremony on the church grounds. The Service will be livestreamed.
