Yolanda E. Bowens

Yolanda Eugenia Bowens was born on September 28, 1970, in Sarasota, FL, to Tyrone Bowens and Gail Abrams. She worked as a home health aide in an assisted living facility until a heart attack rendered her unable to work.

A bona fide foodie, Yolanda (affectionately called “Yo-Yo”, enjoyed cooking delicious meals, such as garlic crabs and neck bones. Unfortunately, she developed heart disease and left this world suddenly on March 3, 2022, at the age of 51.  

Yolanda had a happy go-lucky approach to life. Through her trials and tribulations, she developed a strong relationship with God. She would call her loved ones to say, “I just wanted to hear your voice.”

Yolanda loved to dance and party. She maintained a meticulous appearance; hair and nails were always done. Her pretty face, light eyes and bowlegs made her stand out amongst a crowd.  

Yolanda was preceded in death by Tyrone Bowens.  She is  survived by her children: Jarquis Bowens (Krystle), Christopher Weaver (Ambrische), Rashamia Fergerson, Ricky Fergerson, Jr., Timothy Fergerson, Shameira Laster, and Shanique; her grandchildren: Jada and Jayden Bowens, Deniro Weaver, Amore Dorn, Da’jaun Fowler, and Ricky, III, Rihanna, Scott, Ava, and Kaitlin Fergerson; her former partner, Harvey Laster; her mother, Gail Abrams; three sisters: Delphine Abrams, Tiffany Gibson, and Shalisa Turner; two brothers: Tyrone Bowens Jr. and Ronald Jones; three uncles:  Handy Abrams, Jr., Gary (Belinda) Abrams, and Horrace Stevens; three aunts: Gwen Abrams, Dorothy Bowens, and Jacqueline Bowens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends
