Ms. Katherine J. Grimes

Katherine Grimes, 75, of Sarasota, Florida passed away on April 23, 2023. Her services will be private.

On November 30, 1947, Katherine J. Grimes was born in Bradenton,
Florida to Roosevelt and Anna-Blanche Ward. She was the oldest of eight children.
Katherine received her education in the local community public schools of Manatee County.
She began her career in hospitality. She then went back to vocational school in Sarasota,
Florida to better her education. Being very educated, talented in many ways, she had an eye
and passion for drawing, she was an amazing artist.

In her adult years, Katherine received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
She had a love for teaching the Word of God. She would teach and have Bible study telling
everyone she could about the Lord. Katherine was beautiful, kind, and self-less
she would give her last to anyone who came her way and loved the Lord with
all her heart.

In her service with the Lord, she met the love of her life Prophet Reginald
Grimes. On December 12, 1976, they were united in holy matrimony. This
beautiful union ended with his call home to be with the Lord on June 10, 201
Katherine answered the Master’s call and went home to be with the Lord
on April 23, 2023, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Anna-Blanche
Ward, sister, Pauline Howard, brother, Rodell Ward and grandson,
Reginald Canady.


She leaves to cherish her memories…


Her daughter, Mary Yarn of Bradenton, FL; five stepchildren, Reginald
Grimes (Sandra), Janice McKay, Bishop Walter Grimes (Sharon), Debra
Lyons (Ricky) and Gail Fatunbi; two granddaughters, Latisha Canady of
Jacksonville, FL and Melissa Canady of Bradenton, FL; one brother,
Donelle Ward of Sarasota, FL; three sisters, Marvine Bizznell of
Cleveland, OH, Evanell Wiggs (J.L.) and Gloria Cannon, both of Sarasota,
FL; one aunt, Elizabeth Wesley of Tallavast, FL; two sisters-in-law;
three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends
