Funeral services for Matthew Stewart will be on Saturday, July 22, 2023, 11:00 AM at C. L. Chandler Memorial Chapel, 1425 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Sarasota, Florida 34234.
Matthew Alexander Stewart was born on November 11, 2004, in Albany, NY., to parents Daryle and Angela Stewart. He was the younger brother to Nicholas Edward and Ashley Nicole (deceased.).
Matthew grew up in Cincinnati, OH, and Greenville, SC. In Cincinnati, he attended Freedom Elementary School. Matthew played soccer and was a member of the Cub Scouts. In Greenville, he attended Ellen Woodside Elementary School. At Beck Academy Middle, Matthew was a robotics team member. His first two years were at JL Mann High School. His family moved to Florida, where he attended Lakewood Ranch High, but he graduated from Florida Virtual High School in May 2023.
As a child, he enjoyed playing soccer; he also enjoyed playing video games with his brother. As he got older, he enjoyed reading sci-fi/fantasy books, weight lifting, and hanging out with his friends.
Matthew came to Christ at an early age. At seven years old, he was baptized at the Vineyard Church in Cincinnati, OH. He and his family later became members of Brookwood Church in Simpsonville, SC. After moving to Florida, the family attended Woodland Community Church in Bradenton, FL.
Like many teenagers, he enjoyed the typical milestones: he obtained his driver’s license and got his first job at Panera Bread.
He leaves behind many loving family members, including, Grandparents: Minnie Brown (Owensboro, KY); Eugene Smith (Wilma) of Louisville, KY.; Robert and Brenda Stewart of Cincinnati, OH; He was loved by many aunts and uncles: Mark Stewart (Tracy), Richard Eiche, Michael Stewart (Nikki), Brandon Stewart (Martiza), Readus Smith (deceased) and a host of cousins, great aunts, great uncles and classmates.
