Lloyd “Shorty” Sparkes, Sr., 63, was born on August 20, 1959, in Manchester Devon, Jamaica to Joyce and Egan Sparkes. “Shorty” grew up with two older sisters, Dyrine Sparkes and Sonia Sparkes, one younger brother, Ronnie Sparkes and a cousin, Gary Sparkes who joined their home some years later.
Shorty” grew up in Jamaica until he was 21 years old and decided to migrate to America to better his life. Lloyd was employed as a supervisor at Well Craft and he also owned his own Jamaican food truck. He was a member of Truth Bible Church. “Shorty” wasn’t just loved by his family he was loved by the community as well. He was a good father not only to his children but to his friend’s children as well and he loved and cared about them very much. He loved to go fishing with his children and teach them the way of the water. Shorty also enjoyed going to their football games and always supported them whether they won or lost; he would be there to let them know they did great and would even give them tips on how to be better.
“Shorty” was always a music man day or night if he wanted to listen to some music best believe that music will be played. He loved Jamaica and never forgot about his roots, and he wanted to go home and see his family and he wanted his kids to see their home. “Shorty” always had an uplifting spirit and he made you want to laugh and have fun and he would be there whenever you needed him to talk to, listen or even if you needed a ride. He was a great father, husband and friend and he will forever be missed and forever be in our hearts.
