James R. King, Jr., 52, of Bradenton, Florida departed this earthly life for eternal rest on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in Bradenton, Florida. Visitation will take place from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Chandler’s Funeral Home. The Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 22, 2023, at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 Gillespie Ave, Sarasota. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
James R. King, Jr., affectionately known as “JRU”, was born on January 27, 1971, in Sarasota, Florida to James R. King, Sr. and Susie King. James attended school in Sarasota, Florida. He was well known as an entrepreneur in the community and as a DJ. James made DVD and music chips, but his passion was his artwork and being a photographer.
James is preceded in death by his father, James King, Sr., mother, Susie King and siblings, Debra Nelson, Paul Mills and Lesley Mills.
James is survived by: His son: Jakari King of Sarasota, FL; Daughters: Jacenia King and Jayla King, both of Tampa, FL; Brothers: Rickey King (Sandra) of Jacksonville, FL and Rodney King (Gehu) of Weirsdale, FL; Sisters: Laverne Turner of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Wanetta Parker and Carla Mills Burns, both of Sarasota, FL; Grandchildren: Mia King and King Cannon; Aunts and uncles: Ernestine Barnes, Mary King, Ruby Bennett (Eric),
Brenda Marshall (Nathaniel), Sandra Wright (Andy), Willard Mills, Hezekiah Mills, Theodore Mills (Carolyn), Charles Mills, Dexter Mills and Sheila Sanders; Special friends: Laurice Bartley and Michael Kinsey; And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
