Mother Henrietta Jones Turner

Henrietta Jones Turner, 86, of Sarasota, Florida, formally of Bainbridge, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023. Visitation will take place at Chandler’s Funeral Home, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, 11:00 AM, at Trinity Christian Fellowship Center, 2100 19th Street, Sarasota, FL, Reverend Dr. R. Vincent, pastor/eulogist. The Interment will follow at Galilee Cemetery.

Mother Turner was born in Bainbridge Georgia on Saturday, December 19, 1936, to the late Early Pete and Eloise Benion, where she grew up as a child. She was raised by her aunt. She was educated in the Brooks county school’s system. Later in life, Henrietta moved to Florida during her young adulthood and would call that home until her demise. 

Henrietta was raised as a Christian and joined Trinity Christian Fellowship Center as one of the mothers of the church. She was employed as a Homemaker, and was a well known and respected housekeeper who worked at Longboat Key and the Tax Collector’s Office, both located in Sarasota, Florida. She loved to go to the field, pick peas and shell them. She also took pleasure in going to the thrift shop.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Eddie Davis and Cardnell Davis. 

Mother Turner is survived by her daughters: Erma Platt, Juanita Hill, Teretha Byrd-Dacres, and Santina Turner; sons: Rassan Turner, and Clifford Turner; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family, church family, and friends.

    I thank Mother Jones for the many long, insightful & inspirational talks we had while we both worked in the Sarasota Co. Admin. bldg. She was a joy to know and talk to, and I will always cherish the memories. 🙏🏾❤️
