Annie Bell Crenshaw

Annie Bell Johnson Crenshaw was born on January 7, 1942, in Jasper, Florida, to Bertha Johnson and Carrel Johnson.  She was a graduate of J. R. Lee High School in Jasper, Florida.  She was employed as a domestic and a seamstress.  She was a member of Greater Hurst Chapel A.M.E. Church in Sarasota, Florida.

She was also an avid gardener as she spent many hours in her backyard cultivating her numerous beautiful plants and gardens. On March 30, 2022, she received her wings and is now a gardener in Heaven.  She was married to Carl Crenshaw for 55 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Johnson and Carrel Johnson; two brothers: Willie and George Johnson; and two sisters: Catherine Oliver and Rosa Curry.

Mrs. Annie Bell Crenshaw leaves cherished memories of her life to her devoted husband, Carl Crenshaw; a son, Darryl Crenshaw; three grandchildren:  Brittney Crenshaw, Keyara Hunter, and Derrick Williams; three sisters:  Edith Johnson, Ruby Turner, and Elizabeth Bell, as well as other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Chandler’s Funeral Home, 1425 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Sarasota, FL.  Homegoing Services will be 12 Noon on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Greater Hurst Chapel A.M.E. Church, 2730 N. Links Avenue, Sarasota, FL.  Chandler’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  1. Over 50 years ago, I remember playing sandlot football with maurice, , over at , mr. and mrs. crenshaw. .last year while visiting their home, I notice little kids playing in their yard. It brought a smile to my face, to know the Crenshaw still welcome neighbors alike. May GOD bless the family. The mack family.
