Mr. Clyde L. Chandler

Mr. Clyde L. Chandler, better known as “Sonny”, age 73, of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Graceville, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 18th 2012 in Sarasota, Florida.

Mr. Chandler was a former member of New Easter Missionary Baptist Church of Graceville, Florida.

He graduated from Saint Paul High School in Campbellton, Florida and then continued his education at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science where he received his degree in Mortuary Science on June 20, 1958.

After returning to Florida, Mr. Chandler became a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer by the State of Florida on October 18, 1966. He then worked for Bodge Funeral Home in Pensacola before moving to Clearwater where he was employed with Larkins Funeral Home.

He then decided to move to Sarasota, Florida and was employed at Stevens Funeral Home. In 1995, his dream of owning his own funeral home was recognized when he along with his wife opened Chandler and Son Funeral Home.

In 2003, the Chandler’s had a groundbreaking ceremony in New Town where they continue to provide “Dignified Services for Precious Memories.”

With unwavering strength, “Sonny” endured the passing of his parents and brothers, Clarence and Richard Chandler. Through his grief, he was a constant source of great comfort to his family and families he served through his funeral home; with quiet confidence he consistently displayed complete trust in the perfect will of God.

“Sonny” happily chose to serve, spending his days in constant service of others through his funeral home. “Sonny” lived a life of optimism and faith. He led his family with his example of turning to Christ and finding strength in Him. He chose to be humble. He chose to love. He chose joy.

He is survived by: wife, Gloria, of Sarasota, FL and the Funeral Home is managed by his son, Clyde “Todd” Chandler,
